Good luck in your search! Probably should have started this search 3 weeks ago!

Try blackthorneproducts.com. They have complete AR's EXCEPT for the stripped lower receiver. Try gunbroker also for stipped lower receivers and complete guns.

A word to the wise... IF you can find a complete gun, you WILL be paying more than top dollar for it. Prices have doubled in the last 14 days.

Don't forget, you will need ammo also. WallMart is your best bet for that. All the big distributors are sold out of .223 and not taking back orders.

it seems that everyone is out everywhere. My local pawn shop moved 72 ARs recently and only have one Bushmaster left. AKs are non-existent.

I've bought quite a few guns through gunbroker.com before. I've had good experiences. One was a $3800 O/U shotgun.
None of them were black rifles though. FWIW

Amazing. I just looked around today to see what's going on. Some of the statements on the websites are unreal considering the stock levels a few months ago.

One of my favorites, Noveske: WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING RIFLE ORDERS AT THIS TIME.

I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine who owns a shop here in Colorado.

Now understand, his main business is gunsmithing. He stocks very few weapons.

One week ago, there were 357 people WAITING for their background check to be completed. Apparently here in Colorado, the CBI is doing about 1000 background checks a day.

I was also told that NO vendors are actually taking back orders. They will put your name on a list. If they can then get more, when your name comes up on the list, they will call you and ask what it is you want compared to what they have.

Folks, this is literally unprecedented. Even before Y2K occurred, these type of sales were unheard of.

I fear for where this country is going to end up.

At least those of us in the gun culture are trying our best to stimulate the economy.

Thats the way it always has been.......... the majority will lay down and willfuly kiss the jackboots of there oppressors.

But there will be small pockets of resisitance all over the land that will be fighiting like the devil possesed them and a few will be throughly kicking the @$$ of there attackers. Those small victories will be lighting bolts of courage many will be looking for to start there own fight against tyranny.

These are the times when it is good to have friends working at some of these places. I pick up my Saiga 12 today and the local shop is gonna hook me up on a couple more rifles and if anyone comes in selling something I am looking for they are gonna call me and give me first dibs.

I've seen them priced anywhere from $1200 to $1800.

Remember, it has the name 'COLT' on it which is a premium.
They're AR's aren't all that, though.

The AK is the people's rifle...that's the only reason for its existence...The reason they want to ban them is not to protect us from criminals; the gov wants to ban them because they could be used against them if/when a "revolution" occurs...

Ever gone to a gun show with an AK strapped on your back? I get two reactions from the cops. Some police discuss the weapon with you and respect it (and you get a sneaky suspicion that they've got one at home for protection too). The other reaction is a look of disgust, like you're some kind of criminal. I suspect this look has something to do with the fact that for the first time in this cops life he's looking at the future if things start to get real bad. Maybe that cops realizes his monopoly on power is being checked...wow imagine that...a system of checks and balances...kinda like the AK...nothing more than the peoples check on governmental power...and something Thomas Jefferson would have smiled upon.

At a gun show its no big deal (or at least around here anyway). When they see the AK all the cops run over and make sure its unloaded and that its "locked" so no bullets can be put into the chamber...

Can you keep the bolt open on an AK. Need to double check mines. I know when I fire the last round in a magazine, the bolt stayed closed.

I don't think that people didn't see it coming so much as it is that people weren't going to spend money they didn't have on a gun they couldn't afford when they weren't even sure who was going to be elected. Now that they know they don't have much time, they are busting out their credit cards and getting in line. I'm really not surprised at the current situation and I can understand why people waited.

They stick one of their "plastic handcuffs" through the chamber and the bolt rests on the plastic and is "locked." Its a courtesy thing more than a paranoia thing...Its a grungy redneck gunshow everyone is armed to the teeth..I'd be dead in 2 secs if I went to load it.

Personally, if you're interested in an AR and there are shortages, I would look to just build a rifle. You'll probably have better luck finding uppers and lowers separately. My choice in building an AR would either be a Rockriver, DPMS, LMT upper in .223. It would be an 18 inch flat top with a chrome line barrel with a 1-7 twist. The lower would be a Stag, or Double Star. A nice Hoag grip, Magpul or VLTOR collapsible stock.

The tools needed to put the lower together are basic. You'd need a punch kit but other than that most everyone has all the tools needed. The hardest part is those DAMN little springs, and the key to that is getting a plastic bag and putting them together inside the plastic bag, so when the SHOOT across the room, they remain in the bag.....:wink:

BTW - When you build you're own, you'll get what you want, it will be cheaper, and you'll have the pride of doing it yourself....:ok:

Hell, you don't even need a punch kit if you order a Stag lower. At least, I've never needed one for mine.
